No no no

Whoever is responsible for putting Harold's head in a bucket of jell-o just know we are not entertained. Andrew was weeping in the corner for an hour and Peter hasn't been seen since yesterday. Whoever can name the person responsible for this cruel act will be rewarded 1,500 points for their team. Evidence must be presented.

Andrew is Homeless

Okay, he isn't really "without a home" but his computer is.  As we are getting him a new desk (as his other one had to be moved) I like his current setup.  What do you think?  Jr. High Pastor appropriate?

High School Summer Camp

It seems there has been some confusion about camp this year so I wanted to answer any questions that you may have by reading your thoughts and posting those answers here.

1. We leave Sunday and check-in for camp is between 4-5 pm we leave Friday and pick-up is at 9am, please be on time as I can't leave and see my two precious sons and beautiful wife until you get your kiddos.
2. You are responsible for getting yourself both to and from camp, carpooling is encouraged.
3. If you are unclear about how much you owe for camp please email me (PNA0226@gmail.com) or message me on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pna0226) as I will be at camp with the Jr. Highers for the majority of this week and have no cell phone service but I will have access to the interweb.
4. If you are looking for the camp forms, they are all right here.
5. The theme is in fact 80's, there will be a dress up day on Thursday, so get your crimp and neon colors on.
6. I don't know what cabin you are in until I get checked in on Sunday afternoon so stop asking.
7. I am not going to tell you everyone who is going because my memory is that bad and my desire to do so is that little.  See you at Sugar Pine!

Hiking the Mist Trail

For anyone who wants to come with us or is thinking about coming with us on Sunday, we are hiking the Mist Trail to the top of Nevada Falls.

We are meeting at the church at 6am. I will have donuts for breakfast, if you don't like donuts, to bad, you better eat something else. The Mist Trail is named so because we are hiking next to a waterfall and you will get wet. Because of the water you need to wear appropriate clothing (i.e. no white shirts) and many hikers bring a pancho for this part of the trail, you do not have to, but you can.

The total cost is 10 dollars and
permission slips will be available Sunday morning, at the church office or right here.
Bring a sack lunch and PLENTY of water, if you have a camelback that would be the best option.
Wear hiking boots or tennis shoes you can walk comfortably in. It will be cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon so shorts and a sweatshirt would be optimum.

Dinner is included in the cost and we will be home between 6 and 8 depending on how fast we hike. If you have any questions please email me as I will be in jury duty, again, Pna0226@gmail.com

Please let me know if you are going to be joining if you haven't already. See you Sunday.

Car Wash

So you are going to camp? Sweet, you want 70 bucks knocked off the price? Me too, so, we are getting our car wash on this Sunday from 12-3.  We are pre-selling tickets and if you want the money, you gotta help seel the tickets. We have 10 tickets for each of you to sell, if you don't have them yet come get them from the Church office anytime this week.  Call Peter if you have any questions, call Laurie if you have any concerns.  See you Sunday.

Quick Update

We are split into two teams, they are as follows:

Team 1 Team 2
Diana Peter
Alex Gandalf
Cody F. Stephanie
Cody N. Anthony
Jacob Kelsi
Host: Chelsea Trent
Wyatt
Host: Maggy

Team 1 was at a day school for K-8 today, lots of kickball, worship music, and kids. Rumor has it they had an incredible time and did so while talking to them about Christ and His love for all of them.

Team 2 started by serving over 1000 meals to people in need at the St. Vincent de Paul lunch room in Oakland. It was almost everyone's favorite service project thus far. Our student ate lunch with some of the men and women their and were asked to just talk to them about their lives. In the afternoon team two split into two teams and walked up and down mission street with 20 dollars in hand and asked to go meet some people's needs in the community. It was an incredible stretching experience for all of them. Your students will have some very real and powerful stories when they get home and I would encourage you to talk through what they saw and did this week with them as they have done some pretty incredible stuff and probably don't even realize it. Have a good night and enjoy the heat (sorry that was mean, it will get up to about 72 tomorrow here). Goodnight!

Mission Trip

Hey Mission Trip Parents and Guardians,

We had a small mix up and we will be returning on FRIDAY afternoon not Saturday. Please make arrangements to get your student then. I will have your kids call you to inform you of our exact arrival time once we are getting closer. Sorry for the mix up.

We are having an incredible week thus far. Our students are learning and growing in what it means to truly be God's hands and feet. They will have some pretty incredible stories for you when they get home.

See you Friday and please pray for our safety and effectiveness.

What to Bring to San Francisco

***IMPORTANT***
Mission Trip students, we need you to be at the church on Sunday at the 8:30 and 11:00 services so our congregation can pray for us and for our trip to the Bay Area.  We will be meeting back at the church to leave at 1:00PM, please eat before you get here as your next meal won't be until after 5.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The following is straight from CSM's website and are their rules, please don't ask me to make any exceptions as they are not my rules to break.  Thanks.

Things to bring with you to the City:
o An attitude of FLEXIBILITY!
o Towel, wash cloth.
o Personal toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, shower shoes or flip flops, sunscreen, etc.)
o Your Bible, a pen and a journal.
o A reusable water bottle. Tap water in both S.F. and Oakland is some of the best in the country.
o Warm clothes to sleep in (the sleeping quarters can be cold at night!) and an extra blanket for warmth.
o One-piece swimsuit (summer only—you may be going swimming with some ministry sites that work with
children).
o Flip-flops or other shower shoes for showering.
o Sleeping bag and pillow. Air mattresses (twin size only) and extra blankets are also suggested.
o Work clothes: most sites prefer loose jeans/long pants, t-shirts, closed-toe shoes, non-skid soles.
- Shirts that expose the shoulders (tank tops, halter tops, muscle shirts, etc.) may NOT be worn.
Shirts must be long enough to tuck in or to raise arms without exposing midriff or underwear.
Neither shirts nor pants can be tight, and shirts cannot be low-cut. Shirts must NOT be low cut.
           - We must wear long pants to ministry sites (Capri's don’t count). This is for safety purposes, plus, it’s
            cold here!
- Shoes must be closed-toed and have backs on them.
- Sweatshirt or jacket for day or evening. (SF Bay Area is NOT sunny California) Always be prepared for
  rain, fog, and wind.
- NO college or professional sports paraphernalia. NO single color outfits. NO bandanas.
- Hats must be worn bill forward.

Things NOT to bring to the City:
o Clothes that don’t fit dress code.
o Cell Phones, iPods, PSPs. Radios, walkmans, TVs, etc. (Students cell phones and pagers will be
confiscated for the week.)
o Valuables (except your Bible!).
o Large amounts of money (except $5-$20 to purchase a CSM t-shirt).
o Hats, bandanas, college or professional team clothing. NO single color outfits.
o Weapons (guns, switchblades, firecrackers, etc.).
o Alcohol, tobacco and/or drugs.

Four things to remember about the City:
  • The people who live in the city come from many different places, backgrounds and cultures.
  • The people of the city work hard at preserving their cultures…they are proud to be Asian, Latino, African American, Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Native American, etc.
  • You will bring your suburban/rural culture with you.  You will naturally look, act and talk like suburban/rural people.
  • Sometimes these cultures are in conflict.  Please remember to respect the cultures of the city that are different from your own.  Do not make fun of or put down the dress, actions, food, or music of the cultures that you come in contact with.  This also includes different religious groups, ethnic cultures, sexual orientations, political views, etc.
